In keeping with our commitment to providing a safe school environment and working collaboratively with the communities we serve, we have adopted new policies, regulations and procedures regarding visitors to our schools or to PUHSD-sponsored events held off of PUHSD premises.
Governing Board Policies KFA (Public Conduct on School Property) and KI and Administrative Regulations KI-RA (Visitors to Schools) and KI-RB (Procedures for Visitors Communication or Access Restrictions) describe the conduct the PUHSD requires of a visitor. These requirements are intended to ensure students, employees, and visitors are safe and a visitor does not interfere with the school’s administrative, educational, and operational programs. Copies of KFA, KI, KI-RA, and KI-RB can be found by following this link: www.phoenixunion.org/visitorpolicy
If you have any questions about the policies, regulations or procedures, please contact Dr. Gabriel Trujillo at the Phoenix Union District office at (602) 764-1548.

Opened in 1999, Cesar Chavez is a large comprehensive high school in Laveen. Our highly educated and committed staff serves a diverse population of students with a wide variety of programs. Our curriculum is aligned to College and Career Readiness Standards and we constantly strive to ensure that our students have access to the knowledge and technology necessary to their success in college, career, and life. We offer outstanding academics, with one of the largest and most successful Advanced Placement programs in the district, allowing students to earn college credit in nineteen different courses. We have an excellent tutoring program and support the success of our ninth graders with our Freshman House. Students participate in our advisory program daily, allowing them individualized access to their teachers in the courses where they need the most support. Our AVID program promotes college readiness and teaches strong organization and study skills. Our students participate in a wide range of sports, clubs, and electives, including excellent programs in the fine arts, the performing arts, and JROTC. A student who is educated at Cesar Chavez gains a solid foundation in reading, writing, and math, as well as a thorough grounding in the technology necessary to succeed in the 21st century.Chavez graduates have gone on to attend such outstanding universities as Yale, Stanford, and MIT. Parents have the opportunity to participate in the American Dream Academy and Future Sun Devil Families sponsored through ASU, to learn to help their children prepare for a successful college experience. Our graduation rate and college attendance rates are high. We are proud of our students and believe that a Cesar Chavez High School education provides endless future opportunities for success.
