Dear Parents and Guardians.I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for bringing your child to Fairfax High School. Our goal will continue to provide our students with the best academic and social environment available to public education. We firmly believe that we have set the stage to prepare our students for success in college, career and life.
Parents, critical to the success of your student(s) is that they take full advantage of our tutoring sessions held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday between 6th and 7th hours. This is a unique opportunity for students to acquire additional assistance during the actual school day to assure their academic success. Our system is simple; teachers as well as students can request specific tutoring through the use of our computerized TutorTrac® system. This tutoring process is not only important for those that are in danger of failing but we encourage those that want to improve upon or maintain above average grades to utilize these opportunities. Additionally, as a monitoring process, parents can take advantage of the ParentVue® web based information system to review class by class progress and request information regarding student tutoring attendance through their assigned advisory and content area teachers.
I would again like to ask for your commitment to attend our monthly PTO/IB Parent Meeting, as an opportunity to provide you a voice for communicating with our students, teachers, administrators and post-secondary representatives. This is also an excellent forum for parents to discuss with other parent the keys to improving student academic achievement as well as positive social involvement on our campus. As a reminder, we regularly meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm in the library. You can check our website at www.bettyfairfaxhs.org under the parent icon to confirm meeting dates from our school calendar. I will also provide a school messenger to remind parents of any upcoming meeting dates.
Thank you again for your continued support and we strongly encourage you to stay actively involved in your student’s daily educational practices. You are the critical link to the success of your child.
